Emil Tyden Scholarship Fund

As a young man, Emil Tyden relocated to Hastings, Ml, after coming to America in 1881, at the age of 17. With a strong entrepreneurial spirit and a gifted, creative mind, Emil started several business ventures in the Hastings, MI, area which, over the years, provided a strong manufacturing base for the community, jobs for local residents, and products revered in their respective niches as being leading edge. He is credited with several patents, many of which are still in existence and active today, standing the test of time and innovation. The Emil Tyden Founder’s Scholarship is presented to a graduating senior who exemplifies these same qualities and a desire to pursue an engineering curriculum at a post-secondary institution.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Student must be a graduate of a Barry County High School.
  • Student must be enrolled in an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Student must maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA.
  • Student must be planning to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Engineering/product Development.
  • Student must be planning to live and work in the Hastings, MI area upon graduation.
  • Student must provide letters of recommendation from their high school science and math teachers.
  • Student will be evaluated on essay content.
